The EMILIE JENNINGS DAVALL AWARD An award is in memory of a long time psychology employee of Central State Hospital who was killed in a tragic auto accident in 1994. Her attributes included (1) a firm commitment to the clients served, (2) a willingness to "do the right thing," (3) a spirit of adventure, (4) a sense of humor, (5) a dedication to the profession of psychology, and (6) a respect and concern for associates. Previous recipients of the award are as follows: Carolina Connell (1995), Tracy Butts (1996), Jodi Feathers (1997), Gloria Riggins (1998), Lynn Kirby (1999), Karen McCroskey and Janice Thomas (2000), Anne Weathers (2001), Virginia "Jan " Kump (2002), Arthur Allen (2003), Jack Taylor (2004), Rosalind Brown (2005), Connie Whitfield (2006), Loretta Cropps (posthumously given) (2007) and Corwin Cooper (2008). |

EMPLOYEE AWARDS RECOGNITION PROGRAM
To honor and recognize state employees for their unique and diverse achievements, innovative ideas and dedicated service, the state of Georgia’s leadership supports and sponsors an annual recognition program that celebrates their appreciation for state employees’ dedication, commitment and faithful service. Through the Awards Recognition Program, the Governor recognizes employees for their unique achievement, unswerving devotion and dedicated service in areas such as customer service, community service, innovations and suggestions, safety, heroism, humanitarian, and leadership. The State Personnel Administration will accept all nominations submitted and approved by the agency and department coordinators beginning January through February. EMPLOYEES' SUGGESTION PROGRAM Do you have an idea to make Georgia State Government more efficient and productive? Through the Employees' Suggestion Program, Georgia's state government employees have a chance to receive recognition and up to $5000 for an adopted suggestion. The Employees' Suggestion Program encourages employees to make suggestions (submission form) to improve Georgia state government operations, saving taxpayer dollars and increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of State government. The State Personnel Board makes final determination of any action on suggestions to be adopted, including the amount of any compensation award to be provided. All recommended cash awards approved and adopted are paid by the agency adopting the suggestion within the fiscal year the suggestion is authorized for payment. |

GOVERNOR'S COMMENDATIONS FOR CUSTOMER
SERVICE Governor Perdue wants to show his appreciation for all that you do to serve faster, friendlier and easier. This program includes an annual recognition event as well as "anytime" recognition opportunities. The "anytime" recognition opportunities include Governor's Commendations, described below, and Customer Service "Heroes" recognition (click for details). GOVERNOR'S COMMENDATION - DESCRIPTION This commendation recognizes meritorious actions that enhance the public image of customer service or improve the way customer service is provided in Georgia. Recipients will receive a certificate of commendation signed by the Governor. Nominations will be reviewed monthly; up to 12 recipients will be selected per month. Please complete the online nomination form, or complete the Microsoft Word form and email it to recognition@ocs.ga.gov or fax to 404-463-6693. ELIGIBILITY All nominees must be full-time employees of a state agency or institution. Nominees will be selected on the basis of consistent high levels of performance and/or going above and beyond the call of duty in the performance of their jobs while still accomplishing their normal job responsibilities. To be eligible for an award or commendation the nominee cannot be under any disciplinary action. The Governor's Office of Customer Service will ensure eligibility prior to presenting any awards. Employees of the Governor’s Office of Customer Service and members of the awards committee are not eligible for awards for the year(s) they serve in that capacity. NOMINATION INFORMATION State employees may be nominated for recognition by peers, leadership or customers for acts of outstanding customer service. The selection committee reserves the right to assign any nomination to a different recognition category if deemed more appropriate. |
