information on sick leave (9/8/09 12:09 pm)
Sick Leave:  Accrual for full-time employees is at the rate of 10 hours per month regardless of years of service. After 120 hours have been accrued, up to 24 sick leave hours per year may be transferred to personal leave.  More information in DHR Annual, Sick and Personal Leave policy.
how do I apply for food service employee (8/23/09 5:50 pm)
Check the weekly Job Announcement Bulletin that is published on Fridays to see if a position is open.  If so, complete a state application, save it, attach it and submit it to HR@centralstatehospital.org (If you don't have a computer to do this with, there are computer stations in the Yarbrough building on campus (see CSH map) in HR you may use to apply.

What is the difference in the job description of Team Leader and Charge Nurse? (Saturday, January 24, 2009 09:30 AM)
Team Leader: Counsel with emphasis on prevention and/or behavior modification. Work with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental health. May help individuals deal with addictions and substance abuse; family, parenting, and marital problems; suicide; stress management; problems with self-esteem; and issues associated with aging and mental and emotional health.
Charge Nurse: 
Plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for a unit or shift. Ensures that staff assess client health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. Oversees the provision and quality of nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled clients. Advises clients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.

What is the difference between classified and nonclassified jobs?   (10/17/2007 8:45 am)  'Classified service' means that employment status conferring rights of appeal, as set forth in Code Sections 45-20-8 and 45-20-9. 'Classified service' includes only those employees of state departments were in the classified service as of June 30, 1996, and who have remained in classified positions without a break in service since that date.  'Unclassified service' means employment at will.

Is it fair to hire someone because their your friend, a friend of a friend, coworkers cousin, etc. versus looking at education and work experience? (8/4/2007 12:38 AM)  It is the policy of the State Personnel Administration to seek the best-qualified applicants for all positions and to make sound decisions based upon facts and the best interests of the State of Georgia.
If a housekeeper is interested in taking the class to become CNA licensed, how can he or she apply?  Would he or she use annual leave to attend class?  If an employee works in an area where the training would be of benefit to CSH consumers, and his/her supervisor writes a letter of justification and/or recommendation, the request for CNA training would be reviewed and considered.
